Used since antiquity; lighthouses have long served as the last line of defense for mariners navigating shallow waterways and dangerous coasts...but what are their origins? How were they originally built and lit, and what determined their location? How have they saved lives in noted disasters and continue to help us today? Join the Pennsylvania Earth Sciences Association (PESA) for a peek at the engineering and effort behind these great icons as we look at lighthouses from the Pharos to Cape May and elsewhere.

Please note: This event will be held in IVPL's Community Room and on Zoom.  The Zoom link for the presentation will be sent 24 hours and 30 minutes before the event begins.
