Woodson, Janet Collins, Misty Copeland, Marshall “Major” Taylor, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Usher, Jesse Owens, Arthur Ashe, Althea Gibson, Ruby Bridges, The Little Rock Nine, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Beyonce, A. Philip Randolph, and more. Q&A to follow the performance.
About the presenter: For the past 30 years Linda Gorham has engaged audiences internationally with poignant and humorous family stories; interactive folktales; notably twisted fairy tales; and riveting, well-researched historical stories. Each performance is infused with Linda’s unconventional humor and her signature ‘sophisticated attitude’. Linda has two award-winning CDs. Jumping on Grandma’s Plastic Covered Couch is a revealing look at the inspiring and often unpredictable world of family, love, and self-identity. Common Sense and Uncommon Fun breathes new life into timeless multicultural folktales. www.LindaGorham.com
“Linda can rivet people of all walks of life with tales from all over the world – To some, Gorham is a hip, here-and-now, modern day griot.” – Chicago Tribune
