In-Person Program
In commemoration of the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s visit to Gettysburg in November of 1863, Historical Re-enactor Michael Jesberger will present a program on the Gettysburg Address and the President’s visit to the Battlefield. This presentation will discuss the many difficulties Lincoln was facing with numerous family tragedies and illnesses, the toll that the years of war had on the President, and the speech itself that marked the turning point in his spiritual life and the American Civil War. Lincoln’s visit to the battlefield and town on Gettysburg is remembered each year with ceremonies and a parade that take place in November.
About the presenter: Michael Jesberger is an independent military historian who specializes in the American Revolution and Civil War time periods. He is a member of numerous history-based organizations and active in the reenactment community.
