In-Person Presentation

Living Hope Farm's Head Farmer, Sam Chronister, will discuss current topics in organic gardening.  Some aspects that may be addressed include natural pest control, compost and other natural fertilizers, cover cropping, and the use of poultry in enhancing vegetable production.  The presentation will also include information on how community supported agriculture fits into sustainability practices. This talk may be of interest to home gardeners as well as to non-gardeners who are looking to increase their exposure to local, organically grown produce.

Presenter: Sam Chronister has been working at Living Hope Farm since 2016 and managing the farm since 2019.  He is passionate about helping to build a more resilient local food system, teaching young farmers how to grow food in a sustainable way, and working hands-on with plants and animals.  Sam grew up in Norristown, PA and attended Temple University to earn a degree in Environmental Studies.  When he's not farming, Sam enjoys going on hikes with his dog, cooking with local ingredients, and spending time with his friends and family.

About Living Hope Farm - "As a non-profit organization, Living Hope Farm is committed to offer educational opportunities, job and leadership training, and are dedicated to the process of engaging others on the farm and in the market place to reach under served communities and their neighborhoods.  We grow with the intent to donate a portion of our produce to local families within our schools, food banks, and our local community."
