Oceanography Program with Anne Hartwell

Wednesday, June 154:30—5:30 PMZoomIndian Valley Public Library100 E. Church Ave, Telford, PA, 18969

Oceanography is the study of the physical, chemical, and biological features of the ocean, including the ocean's ancient history, its current condition, and its future.

Bring the whole family and join us as we will learn about Oceanography from a scientist who will share what it's like to be a scientist with the goal of helping people outside her field understand what she does to inspire the next generation of scientists.  She will share her experiences as an ocean scientist, obstacles she has had to overcome along the way, and how she became interested in oceanography.  She will cover a little about her own research studying Mother Octopuses in the deep ocean and her role in helping map the entire ocean floor by 2030!  There will be lots of time for questions and answers as well, so bring your curiosity!

About the Presenter:   Anne Hartwell has been doing research related to Earth Science for over a decade. She has a B.S. in Geology, M.S. in Oceanography, and is pursuing a PhD program for Oceanography at the Univ. of New Hampshire Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping. She believes it is important to engage the next generation with science and exploration of the natural world.
