Throughout its history, Pennsylvania has had a handful of major population centers and lots of small rural villages. Most were centered around mining, lumbering, or farming. As the economy in many locations changed, people found it necessary to abandon their town and go settle someplace else. Some of those towns and villages found a second life. But most remained abandoned. In this presentation, we’ll take a look at some towns that once were thriving but that now sit abandoned either alone or as part of a larger landscape of wilderness.
