Understanding Russia's Invasion of Ukraine
We should not have been surprised. The signs have been there since Vladimir Putin ascended to power... and the U.S. and NATO ignored those signs or downplayed their importance. Now we have a slowly unfolding disaster that cannot be easily stopped. What could the U.S. and NATO have done differently? What must we do now? What lessons must we learn?
Presented by: Gary Midkiff is a Foreign Policy Analyst and College Professor at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois where he teaches American History. He presents single topic presentations to programs delivered monthly/bi-monthly on a wide variety of topics to community colleges, libraries and senior living communities in the Chicago area. He writes and edits his political / foreign policy newsletter “A View from the Balcony” several times a month. He is also an author of Busville: a story about school bus drivers (2020) and The Final Recipe (mystery) (due to be published this year).
