Learn the stories of Jessie Wilcox Smith, Elizabeth Shippen Green and Violet Oakley who were among the most prominent and prolific artists of their time.  These three remarkable Philadelphia artists became an example of the possibilities for women in the workforce during the suffrage movement.  Their talent, dedication, and lifelong friendship brought them national recognition.

Presented by  Woodmere Art Museum's Docents:

  • Bonnie Brown, a long time member, volunteer, educator and 20-year docent of Woodmere Art Museum.
  • Marsha Braverman is a former marketing and public relations executive. She has received numerous graphic design awards and is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnae Award from Moore College of Art & Design.
  • Sue Royer, a lifelong resident of Philly suburbs, with a background in corporate learning and development, became a docent for Woodmere in 2019. She finds great joy in exploring the art and artists of Philadelphia with Woodmere patrons and staff.
