In-Person Presentation

America’s sixth largest city is home to an amazing abundance of surprising wildlife: the peregrine falcon, the fastest animal on earth; the coyote, a recent immigrant to Wild Philly; the beaver, once vanished and now making an astonishing comeback; and so many more. Meet some of the region’s most intriguing creatures, plus the places you can go to see the full diversity of wildlife.  Writer-naturalist Mike Weilbacher presents this illustrated lecture, the perfect companion to Mike’s book by the same name.  Learn the astonishing story of the Lenape's relationship to our land, the history of Philly's role in natural history, and some of the great ways you can help heal nature.

About the Presenter:  Mike Weilbacher travels the region offering lectures and walks on a variety of topics: climate change, monarch butterflies, microplastics, even the quirky mating habits of wild creatures.  A magazine and book writer, his first book, Wild Philly: Explore the Amazing Nature in and Around Philadelphia, came out last spring, and his feature story on horseshoe crabs at the Delaware Bay was just published in Philadelphia magazine.

Mike will be selling and signing copies of Wild Philly: Explore the Amazing Nature in and Around Philadelphia after the talk, allowing you to explore the nature of our region all year long.
