America On Wheels, opened in 2008, is a museum dedicated to preserving the historical, social, and cultural impact of our nation's over-the-road transportation systems. 23,000 square feet of the building is dedicated to both permanent and changing exhibits. The museum is home to over seventy-five cars, trucks, motorcycles, bikes, the Mac Truck archives, and a number of vehicles on loan from a museum dedicated to the truck manufacturer. A highlight of the collection is a gas-powered carriage built by local mechanic Henry Nadiq a couple of years before the arrival of the first gas-powered auto. The museum is handicap accessible—elevators and ramps serve all public areas within the building. There is a gift shop and café on the premises.

The campus of the Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art consists of 15 acres of buildings, native plant gardens, and a river trail. The museum, situated in a former gristmill built in 1864 that was part of the Conservancy's first preservation efforts, houses a collection focused on American art, with an emphasis on the art of the Brandywine region, American illustration, still life and landscape painting, and the work of three generations of Wyeths. For an extra fee, visitors may take a tour of some nearby sites—the house and studio of N. C. Wyeth; the studio of his son, Andrew Wyeth; and the Kuerner Farm, a major source of inspiration to the younger artist. There is a café on the premises.

The Faith and Liberty Discovery Center, located on Independence Mall in Philadelphia, is dedicated to the exploration of the intersection of faith and liberty in the U.S. The 40,000 sq. ft. center, operated by the American Bible Society, has a 3-D theatre and 6 galleries that deliver information about famous Americans driven by their faith, in important historical moments. Visitors engage with the interactive exhibits using a device called “The Lamp.” The experience may extend beyond the museum walls—an app is available that provides curated walking tours of historic sites in old Philadelphia. The entrance to the building is barrier-free, and all areas are accessible for most mobility devices. Wheelchairs are available for use on-site only, free of charge.

The Mütter Museum of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia is dedicated to the history of medicine. Its collection of anatomical specimens, models, and old medical instruments are displayed in a 19th-century “cabinet museum” setting. These include a number of human skeletons and skulls, as well as various wax models used for the study of various pathologies in the human body. A portion of the museum's holdings are displayed in permanent exhibits. (Of special note are slides of the brain of Albert Einstein.) The Penn Museum is located in a unique Arts and Crafts and Eclectic style building on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. It is home to over a million artifacts, ethnographic objects, and archaeological finds from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Mediterranean. Begun in 1887, the collection is organized in eleven curatorial sections documenting the peoples of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Many of the items in the collection were obtained directly through its own field excavations or anthropological research. Highlights include a 16th century commemorative plaque from Benin; an old stone monument from Guatemala depicting a ruler surrounded by Mayan glyph writing; the Sphinx of Ramses II, the largest ancient Egyptian sphinx in the Western Hemisphere; a statue of a seated pharaoh Ramses II (1290–1224 BCE); a Sioux headdress, a war bonnet made around 1890; a cloisonné statue of a lion from the Qing Dynasty era; a large marble relief once part of a commemorative monument for the Roman emperor Domitian (95 CE); an amphora made in Athens around 535 BCE which depicts the death of Achilles in battle; and a terracotta sculpture of a female head of the type typically attached to the roof tiles of an Etruscan temple of the 4th century BCE. The Shofuso Japanese House and Garden is a 17th century traditional-style Japanese house and garden in Philadelphia that reflects the history of Japanese culture in Philadelphia. Shofuso was built in Japan in 1953 using traditional techniques and materials. Before being moved to its current location, the house was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Twenty murals inspired by the waterfall, donated by the artist by Hiroshi Senju, are on view. A garden with koi pond and island, a tea garden, and a courtyard garden comprise the 17th century-style Japanese garden of this historic site and museum. Note that, because Shofuso is a reproduction of a 17th century house, it is not wheelchair or scooter accessible, nor is it easily accessible to users of walkers, canes, or prosthetics.

The Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum, located in Horsham, PA, is dedicated to preserving the aviation history of the Greater Delaware Valley. A large number of restored historical aircraft are on display, both inside and outdoors. In addition to the aircraft from different eras, exhibits include flight simulators, flight gear, memorabilia, missiles, models, and medals. A special emphasis is on the early development of both winged and rotary flight at current site of the museum (formerly an aircraft factory), the military presence at the former Willow Grove Base, and service men and women who have supported aviation through the years.
